Michael H. Boyce Award

Col. Michael H. Boyce USMC (ret.) spent 30 years serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and embodied the core values the Marines represent throughout his life. After his military career, Col. Boyce continued to serve his country by being elected to and chairing the Cobb County (GA) Board of Commissioners.

Col. Boyce spent his last year at Notre Dame as part of the Inspired Leadership Initiative (ILI), focused on leveraging his professional experience for the good of others, and invested his time in mentoring students and an entrepreneur from the South Bend Entrepreneurship and Adversity Program (SBEAP).

In his honor, we are establishing the annual Michael H. Boyce Award to recognize an emerging entrepreneur from adverse circumstances who embodies the values that defined his extraordinary life. These values include:

  • Honor
  • Courage
  • Commitment
  • Faithfulness
  • Overcoming
  • Discipline
  • Leadership

Nominations will be made by program leaders and participating mentors, consultants, and SBEAP alumni, and the award committee will make final selections. The award will be given in December of each year to an individual who participated in the SBEAP over the preceding 12 months.
