Student Eligibility & Requirements

The program is only open to graduate and upper-level undergraduate students with a 3.0 grade point average or higher. A background in business administration is not required and students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Several projects have components that would be appropriate for students with backgrounds in social work, sustainable development, economics, sociology, advertising, accounting, communications, journalism, accounting, information technology, architecture, international relations, or African studies.

Key requirements include personal maturity and responsibility, a high energy level and enjoyment of hard work, a willingness to learn, and a desire to make a difference. Only 25 students can be accommodated in the program, and students interested in participating are encouraged to submit their applications early.

The Application Process

Application Deadline: February 

Interested applicants from partner schools should contact their campus EESA director:

All interested applicants must send a resume (which includes your year and academic concentration), and an essay (focusing on motivations for wanting to participate, evidence of work ethic and problem-solving skills, and the special capabilities, knowledge, skills or background that you would bring to the program) to the participating EESA director at your university.
