One of the challenges in research at the poverty and entrepreneurship interface is the preponderance of conceptual and theoretical contributions, with a need for more empirical research. Even within the empirical realm, much of the research is qualitative. As a result, much of the evidence we have to support policy development, theory development, and interventions with these entrepreneurs is anecdotal or unrepresentative. This webinar will explore the challenges in conducting empirical research with low-income and disadvantaged entrepreneurs. Featuring some of the leading researchers at the poverty and entrepreneurship interface, we will explore challenges and approaches surrounding a range of issues in sampling, measurement instruments, data collection, and data analysis.
